Below is a list of frequent asked questions, as well as after care instructions for caring for your lash extensions. If you don't see an answer to a question you have please send me a question through my Contact Me page.
Eyelash extensions are synthetic semi-pernament lashes, designed to replicate natural lashes. They are applied individually to the base of your natural lash, with a surgical grade adhesive. They are weightless and look very natural, with lots of lengths and thicknesses to customize your lashes to the look you want.
Because the adhesive needs time to completely dry and set, you cannot get your lashes wet for 24 hours. You have to be prepared for that before your appointment for your full set, and before each fill. So ladies, wash your hair the morning of your appointment.
Be careful with your lashes. Try not to pick at them, rub them, lay of them too much if you can.
Avoid oil based products on or around your lashes. This includes mascaras, eyeliners, and facial moisturizers. You can use water based mascaras and mineral eyeliners-after the first 24 hours. Apply your facial moisturizer atleast 30 minutes before you go to bed so it has sufficient time to dry before you go to sleep and your lashes are laying on your face.
Your natural lashes shed in a cycle of 60 to 90 days. On average, we loose 1/3 of our lashes every 2 weeks. The lash extensions will shed with your natural lashes. Most of my clients come in for fills about every 3 weeks to apply extensions to your new lash growth.
A full set takes approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Fills generally take an hour.
After a brief consultation, you will lay on a comfortable bed for the entire procedure. I will go over the procedure with you and encourage any questions you have. Your eyes will have to be closed for the entire procedure. Most of my clients are so relaxed they fall asleep.
The high quality adhesive I use is gentle enough for even the most sensitive eyes. A few things to keep in mind: if you have problems with anxiety or Claustrophobia, lash extensions may not be for you. You will be laying down in an almost completely horizontal position, eyes closed, with a light directly over your eyes and me working over your forehead. I have had a few new clients realize they will have to be in this position for up to 2 hours and have to walk away from the appointment. Other regular clients who are aware of their condition and have taken their prescribed medication before their scheduled lash appoinment are just fine. If you have difficulty at a dentist appointment or facial appointment, lash extensions could be difficult for you as well.
Because the lash extensions are applied at the base of your natural lash, you have to have natural lashes to apply them to.
I am sure we have all heard the expression "you get what you pay for." The same is true with lash extensions. The cheaper price for 'extensions' most likely means a process called tabbing, which is very damaging to your natural lashes, causing them to break off. My process is done using very high quality products and I place one single extension on every single, adult natural lash you have. That insures my extensions do not damage your natural lashes. When your natural lash grows out and sheds, the extensions just grows and sheds with it. I am very proud of my lash work and make sure I give you gorgeous lashes at the highest quality, everytime you come see me! Most places in town that deliver the kind of quality I do, start at $250, and go as high as $400. The same lash quality in other areas of the country cost upwards of $600.
